Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023

The ball has dropped, the clicks of the champagne glasses hit, the smiles, cheers & hoorays of a new year, and even the warmth of hope and faith tingles through your body once it becomes January 1st.

As we are on the final day of 2022 and setting the new intentions of 2023, with strong hopes that by the end of 2023 the goals you set out to achieve will be accomplished.

Yet, how often do you find yourself by January 20th, saying to yourself, “I’ll start again next Monday or next month!” Not to burst your bubble of hope of achieving your new year goal, however, it is statistically reported that 45% Americans who make a New Year Resolution, only 8% were successful of keeping them, with the number one resolution is to lose weight.

But no worries ! Coach Ilia Maria has full faith that you’ll be one of the 8% at the end of 2023 to achieve your goals. All you have to do is follow these tips.

Tip #1: BE INTENTIONAL

When setting your goals be intentional about it, have a purpose/connection to your goals. There’s no need to rush to make a goal because the ball is about to drop. Take a moment and sit down with yourself, to be clear and realistic with your goals. Understand that every action step you’ll be taking to achieve your goals, has a purpose behind it.

Tip #2: BE SMART ABOUT IT

Now that you have planted the seed of you achieving your goal, it is time to get crystal clear and real with yourself during the planning stage. It’s time to get SMART = Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. It’s one things saying, “I want to improve my nutrition”, however, saying “ I will improve my nutrition, by stop eating fast food daily and meal prepping on my rest day from the gym. I will plan my meals every week and follow recipes from my meal prep books. I will be keeping track by taking monthly photos to see the changes of my body composition and by 1 year I will be at my ideal measurements. Rewording your goals to be SMART makes a bigger impact.

Tip #3: IDENTIFY YOUR ROADBLOCKS

What are your roadblocks? What excuses or barriers do you create? Even what sacrifices you’ll have to make? For instance, I have a client named MJ and every time she gets back home from work she lays down in bed and scrolls on her phone, hence, losing track of time to go to her group exercise class she attends. A solution to MJ roadblock is to bring her workout clothes with her that way after work she could go straight to the gym to attend her fitness class. Everyone barriers looks different from one another. It could be time, support system, organization/planning, etc. Take it one step at a time and no need to tackle all the barriers at once! Focus one barrier at a time and swap it for a positive lifestyle and watch your life transform.

Tip #4: STAY CONSISTENT

I know, I know, you have probably heard it before and I’m here to tell you again BE CONSISTENT! Even if one day looks different than the other, the important thing is that you still showed up. Even if you had a shorter workout, you still took the ACTION to move your body. Even if you read 10 pages for one day and 5 for another day, you still took the time to read. Each step matters and helps you reach your main big goal. My biggest advice is don’t sit and wait to be motivated, you’ll be waiting for a while. Being consistent is the ACTION that will lead to the FEELINGS of motivation within your journey, being consistent is what still keeps you on the path of reaching your goals when the FEELINGS of motivation is not there on gloomy days.

Tip #5: HAVE FUN!

You’ll be implementing new habits into your life, have fun while doing it. Want to know a little secret, I use to hate meal prepping ! Then I switch up my wording that I get to meal prep, I get to choose which recipes I want to make for myself and loved ones, and I get to blast my favorite tunes while dancing around the kitchen as I prep. Even from time to time it becomes a fun activity to do with a love one.

Read books that you’ll get to enjoy and movement you’ll love to do. Keeping a higher vibe frequency up while doing these new activities would make it a lot easier for yourself compared to dreading it.

Tip #6: HAVE ACCOUNTABILITY

Tell someone you trust or someone who has a similar goal to yours, that way it helps one another to stay on the path. There’s other ways for accountability, such as logging it down on a journal, that way you are able to track your progress and gain awareness. Hiring a coach is one way to gain ideas, knowledge, and perspective while helping you to check-in with your goals.

Follow those 6 tips and your 2023 goals won’t just be wishes it will become your reality. And one last tip, give yourself grace, you have to be willing to accept yourself including making mistakes as you move towards your goals.

Your belief become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny.

                                                                                      - Mahatma Gandhi

Let this year be the year you go after progress over perfection and savor every victory you make along the way to your goals. I wish you an amazing New Year !

Xoxo,

Coach Ilia Maria🌻
